Index Options Research — Finomint
Stock Options Research — Finomint

Research that reads each stock's options story individually.

Stock options are not index options. Every stock has its own implied volatility curve, its own earnings calendar, and its own OI build-up pattern. We analyse them one stock at a time — company-specific IV, pre-earnings positioning, and how the options market is pricing each name.

WHAT MAKES STOCK OPTIONS DIFFERENT

Every stock has its own IV fingerprint

Unlike index options where IV moves as a basket, stock options trade on company-specific volatility. An earnings announcement, a management change, or a sector event can push a single stock's IV to extremes while the index barely moves. Our research tracks each stock's IV curve, its percentile vs. history, and how it behaves around known events.

We publish IV rankings across all F&O stocks so you can see at a glance which names are pricing in elevated risk — and which ones look complacent.

Tracking where the money is flowing stock by stock

OI change combined with price action tells us whether a move is backed by conviction or momentum. Our quadrant framework classifies every F&O stock into one of four categories — long build-up, short build-up, long unwinding, short covering — and we publish the full breakdown with every report.

Stocks showing sustained long build-up with controlled IV are flagged for closer fundamental review.

EARNINGS-DRIVEN OPTIONS ACTIVITY

The options market prices earnings before the results hit the screen

In the two weeks leading up to an earnings announcement, stock options see predictable patterns — IV rises, straddle prices inflate, and OI shifts toward strikes where the market expects the biggest move. Our pre-earnings reports quantify the implied move, compare it to historical earnings moves, and map where the OI is accumulating.

UPCOMING EARNINGS · IMPLIED MOVE
TCSImplied move: ±4.8% · Hist avg: ±3.2%
INFYImplied move: ±6.2% · Hist avg: ±5.1%
RELIANCEImplied move: ±3.8% · Hist avg: ±3.6%
HDFCBANKImplied move: ±4.2% · Hist avg: ±4.0%

When implied move exceeds historical average, options are pricing in event risk — worth reading the fundamental research alongside.

Options activity builds before the results

Upcoming earnings with elevated options activity. We publish pre-earnings notes for each highlighted stock.

How we research stock options

A four-step process — from scanning all F&O stocks to publishing a stock-specific options note.

STEP 01

Screen the F&O Universe

All 200+ F&O stocks are screened daily on IV percentile, OI change, PCR deviation, and volume spikes. Stocks that cross preset thresholds are shortlisted for deeper analysis.

STEP 02

Read the Options Chain

For each shortlisted stock, we read the full options chain — IV skew, OI concentration by strike, PCR trend over 5/20 sessions, and the implied move for upcoming events.

STEP 03

Layer the Fundamentals

The options signal alone is never enough. We overlay the stock's fundamental context — earnings trend, sector health, management changes — before forming a view on what the options data means.

STEP 04

Publish the Note

A concise research note with the options data, the fundamental context, and a clear observation — not a trade call, but a well-reasoned read of what the stock's options market is saying.

Before you start with stock options

Which stocks do you cover for options?+

Only stocks in the liquid F&O universe — names with enough options volume and open interest for a clean, tradeable setup. Illiquid counters are excluded regardless of the story.

What triggers a stock options call?+

A specific catalyst — quarterly results, a corporate action, a sector move, or a clear shift in options positioning. We don't publish a call just to have one out every day.

Do you explain the Greeks?+

Yes, in plain language alongside the call — what the delta, IV and time decay mean for that specific trade, not a generic textbook definition.

Is position sizing included?+

Every report suggests an allocation range relative to your options capital, so sizing isn't left as an afterthought once you already have the strike.

How often are stock options calls updated?+

As the event plays out — through the session for intraday-sensitive names, or with a fresh note if the setup invalidates before target or stop-loss is hit.

Is my first stock options report free?+

Yes. Your first report is free to read. Continued coverage across the F&O stock universe is available through a subscription, priced clearly upfront.
